Your presentation starts at the script. All your information and content is in the script. Designing your script to be spoken out loud is the key to a successful presentation.
Scripts can be delivered to the teleprompter crew in just about any word processing format for PC or Mac, usually via email. Just be sure to get your script out in good time.
Use the contracted form of words whenever possible. This gives your script a more flowing delivery and better reflects the way people speak. Short sentences will get your message across more effectively.
Your script should only contain text. No charts, images emphasis or highlighting of any description. Only text to be delivered out loud should be a part of your script.
If your presentation relies on visual aids, limit these to images that can be displayed to your audience.
Once the teleprompter operator gets your script, this will probably undergo some pretty basic editing to ensure the script flows well and the words are clear on the auto-cue monitor. Making your script too involved by using diagrams or storyboards for example could well incur expensive editing. Stick to the basics…just the script!
When you are ready to bring your presentations in-house, use professional teleprompter software . . . it will make a huge difference to the success of your production.
