I’ve always been a baker, ever since I was about 7 or 8 years old (even younger if you count Easy Bake Oven! lol)
I’ve always thought it would be so wonderful to have my own bakery and sell cakes, cupcakes, cookies, brownies, pastries, pies, etc.
What does it take to open your own bakery? Is it expensive? What are the challenges? Thanks for any advice.
Yes, you need plenty of money.
You cannot even fathom how much it is to open a store today.
People don’t realize
Rent
Security
Build out
Architect( by law)
Plumber( law)
Ansul systems( a ton of money) ( fire protection)(LAW)
Machinery( ovens, mixer’s etc etc ( all commercial quality).
Cases( refrigerators, showcases etc etc) look at those prices even used.
Insurance( fire, theft etc).
Insurance for workers.
That just some things, there so much more.
It’s not like years ago and I always say,
that if I had the money it takes to open a decent business today, I would
have enough money to retire, and that is no joke.
Challenges are never ending, from competition,
to keeping your costs down and turning over your products to realize a profit.
Not easy . Our electric bill this month alone was $3,000.
Imagine how much you have to sell just to pay that and the rent?
Paper products have gone through the roof.
Here it is in the nutshell,
right now, even the best places that have been in business for years are
struggling to keep afloat and many are even closing( especially restaurants( we are all related).
This is not the right time to open a business.
Even big chains have scaled way down and stopped planning new store( except of course Walmart).
